It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was underway.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
